Meditation is the simple act of being aware of one’s breath. It must not be a daunting task to meditate. The mind is wandering every time. It’s hard to tame the mind behave in a certain way. Through Meditation, we make friends with our mind and control it to behave in a specific way.

Spiritual meditation is suitable for those who want to grow in the spiritual path. Spiritual meditation helps the practitioners to go deep within and develop a belongingness with everything around them. Seekers embrace the silence around them and by concentrating on any of the five senses try to reach the highest sense of perception. Silence is the perfect medium to reflect on their nature.

Practitioners of spiritual meditation seek the answer to their existence. It helps to clear the mind and work on the seeker’s strengths and weaknesses.

Mantra meditation uses a technique of repetitive set of sounds. Mantras are energy-based sounds. The repetition of the mantra vibrates every cell of the practitioner. By reciting a mantra, the practitioner releases the stress. Just by chanting the mantra, the seeker protects himself. The seeker must believe in the mantra and be one with it. The seeker concentrates more and more on the mantra and thus takes his mind to a higher state.

The pronunciation of the mantra is an important aspect and must be accurate. Much of the effect of the mantra depends on how the mantra is chanted. At the deeper level, mantras work on the subconscious level as well.


Founded by the Indian spiritual sage, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduced the world to Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique. The transcendental meditation is for people who are new to meditation but want to continue it soon.

This meditation also involves the chanting of a mantra and following the pattern of the breath. It is a kind of personalised meditation technique, as each practitioner receives a specific mantra based on his birth year and sometimes gender.

Regular practice of TM increases the brain wave frequency during the meditation; and with time, it is experienced throughout the day.


People who find sitting still to be boring can practice movement meditation.

As the name suggests, this meditation involves movement. There are many forms of movement meditation. Many monasteries practice this meditation alternative to sitting meditation to enable some kind of movement in the body. The mind wanders all over the place, while you are busy with activities. Movement meditation helps the practitioner to understand the nature and sanctity of this world.


Mindfulness meditation originates from the Buddhist teachings. In this technique, the seeker is taught to live in the present moment. Through continuous practice, the seeker releases the stresses and tension by accepting things as it is and thereby surrendering.

Practitioners who do not have access to a teacher on a one-on-one basis can also practice this meditation technique.

Meditation cannot be explained in words. One must practice it themselves to experience it and enjoy the benefits. Meditation is not a religion, philosophy or lifestyle. Meditation is not concentration or mind control. It is a simple act of being aware of oneself and the feelings. It is effortless transformation. Regular practice of meditation brings inner peace, creativity, health, success and happiness!
